This is a good day. The Kinder Morgan pipeline has been stalled …at the very least. I can start feeling like there is some hope for how our country is conducting itself with regards to future generations. When the fate of our planet rests on decisions made by our elected representatives, it is profoundly disheartening to see the government that ran on a platform of environmental reform, conduct itself with such self serving hypocrisy. Pandering to short-sighted ignorance of plain science and/or greed in the face of what is happening to our planet. I voted for you; I feel betrayed. This is not an issue that can be negotiated walking the tightrope fence. I stance must be taken. I hope it will be to allow nature on this planet a fighting chance to survive rather than speed up it’s compromise and possible demise. To fuel logical energy solutions over antiquated dangerous ones. We only have this planet to live on.
There should be no buyouts for Kinder Morgan. Prime Minister Trudeau needs to let this disastrous project die on its own.
Thank you.

I have always gone by people actions, NOT their words. Clearly by Trudeau’s countless actions, behaviours, he has many seriously mental health issues. I have a nephew that is diagnosed with schizophrenia – one of their symptoms is having an obsession to focus on one idea & never letting it go. This is Trudeaus brain action as well as the Premier of Alberta. They both are obsessed & continue to focus, state that Canada will only benefit from a pipeline. This being the only way jobs will be created…..With all the never ending oil spills, explosions….around the globe, they continue to state that the oil industry is the only way for jobs, Canada to survive as a country. Their brains are so focused on oil that, unlike the rest of us, they don’t see that the globe is going solar, wind, battery operated vehicles. The interest in oil globally is becoming extinct. Solar, wind, natural resources are NOT being made by themselves. This is where the permanent jobs, security of future generations are. The minds of these 2 politicians are obsessively focused on one thing & trying to convince everyone to think as they do. This is the behaviour of schizophrenic patients as well as bi-polar, which my nephew also is. It is beyond comprehensible how these 2 people remain in power. Clearly they are unfit, mentally unstable, to the point of risking everyone’s future, including their own children & grandchildren, while claiming they are acting in their best interest: to include risking the environment that they are also witnessing the fires which are more every year as well as risking all of us who are fighting to save what is left of our dying oceans & burning planet for their children & grandchildren with our own. I don’t ever recall any legislature that states because someone is in power, they have the right to KILL their citizens. My recollection is they are supposed to work in their best interest and protect the rights of EVERYONE!! Cecile Lemay Surrey BC
To think outside the box one must first of all get outside the box. It takes strength and depth of character to admit when we’re wrong, more so for national leaders. This is your opportunity to demonstrate these qualities and get outside the box. Abandon this ridiculous Trans Mountain Project and put the 4.5 billion dollars toward restructuring Alberta’s economy. Consult the most brilliant forward thinking business and environmental minds to get the job done.
Our Prime Minister told the world that “Canada is back”, which Canada, the old Canada or the brave new Canada. Massive algae blooms in Lake Superior, no successful Orca births in the Salish Sea since 2015, 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans each year; when does it stop?
The world needs intelligent brave men and women, not politicos. Please earn and deserve the distinction “Honourable”.

The best thing you can do for Canadians, and redeem some of yourself, is to take the tax payers’ money you plan on spending on this failed project, and give it to the Canadian people to open up clean earth project businesses, and tell Trump and his bully NAFTA deal to take a hike. Then you would be doing something.

Dear Honourable Minister,
No means no…not only does your government not have consent from First Nations to build the Kinder Morgan pipeline you do not have the consent of Canadian Tax payers to bail it out.
I suspect your government will continue with your attempts to ram your critically flawed proposal through, and the only way to ensure your objectives are also cancelled is to place into office a party who’s path forward, makes sense in these critical climate times.
As your government is obviously ignoring voter displeasure with your desire to place economic priorities over common sense, the next election in Canada is when your government will learn the lesson of using bully tactics on Canadian voters to achieve your pipe dreams.
Thank you.

Leave a good legacy and drop Kinder Morgan buyout, nothing good will ever come out of this pipeline for Liberals. It is not us against them it’s all of us for a cleaner future.

There is no price $$$ to apply on clean air for all Canadians -clean drinking waters for all Canadians fertile arable soil for all Canadians to grow our food in -THAT is what matters mr. Trudeau .That is the crystal clear point ,If corporate energy companies agenda for CANADA is ( more) important than those 3 essential living facts-air water-soil are ignored ,then we will ALL pay a unforgiving price $-in climate changes and /or ever increasing pollutions from fossil fuels affecting ALL Canadians regardless where they live!…( its as simple as that) .daniel duranleau

I know government is a tricky business, but we’re killing our world and big oil doesn’t care. Please, take a stand as you did against human rights abuses by the Saudis.
You do not seem to care about the environment nor the fact that the money you are using for this unwanted and unwarranted purchase is needed in other areas of Govenment. The existing pipeline has been known to rupture, last time on land. This rupture cost the people of BC a lot to clear up! We should be concentrating on making our environment better not propping up Alberta – who, by the way, coukd well afford to purchase this pipeline and it’s future twin. They have never shared their multi million Heritage fund with the provinces, and never will! Spend our taxes on clean and renewable power, sun, wind and water! I voted on your promises, next time I will vote on your actions!

You are so wrong on this. The world is burning up—very strong actions against Climate Change are needed. Please lead rather than continue to enable the oil industry to do more damage.
Please stop this enormous amount of money being spent on something that could easily destroy our city of Vancouver. Our tourism, our waters, our eco system, my child and my grandchildren’s right to a non toxic environment. Do you not want this for your own children? We can make our money other ways without destroying our livelihoods. Our Fire Marshal is concerned. Our Unniversities are concerned.
Our province is burning up. Do you not see what is happening? As my Father taught me. It is of the outmost importance not to mess with Mother Nature. Why do we punish people who fear for the future? The future of all Canadians? Why do we try to stifle them? This is not the Canadian way Mr. Trudeau. To increase our tanker traffic 700 percent in such a narrow Inlet as Burrard Inlet makes no common sense. Dodging the Sea Buses as people make their way to work in the downtown area from the Noth Shore and vise versa. One mistake will destroy this City and that you cannot deny.
I have seen myself the tankers sudeways across Burrard Inlet. Trying to manoeuvre around pleasure craft. There are no tug boats assisting like we were told there would be. Not that that would make it any less dangerous. I ask you Mr. Prime Minister. Come here to Burrard Inlet and see for yourself. Perhaps on a busy Sunday or any day of the week. Go out on the water. Then tell people this is what we need to do for Canada.
