Petition to Senator Cory Booker and all elected Democrats:
Your role as the opposition party is to hold Trump accountable for corruption, misdeeds, and policies that hurt the American people. But when you have benefitted from the largesse of the Trump family, you can’t properly do your job. Give up tainted campaign contributions from Jared Kushner or anyone associated with Donald Trump and donate the money to charities in line with progressive values.

Sen. Cory Booker, a rising star in the Democratic Party with ambitions for 2020, recently went on “Meet the Press,” saying it was “too soon” to revoke Jared Kushner’s security clearance, even after it was discovered he worked to create a secret channel of communication with the Russian government.1

Elected Democrats claim to be part of the “resistance,” and have made a lot of promises to their constituents about holding Trump to account and getting to the bottom of the endless stream of corruption and conflicts of interest coming out of the White House.

But several elected Democrats have taken campaign money from Jared Kushner, Trump’s most trusted adviser, and his wife, Ivanka Trump. Sen. Booker alone has taken $23,400 from them.2,3

And Booker is not the only one. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) took $4,000 from Jared Kushner.4 Booker’s fellow New Jersey Senator Robert Menendez also took money from Kushner.5

Tell Cory Booker and all elected Democrats: Give up tainted Kushner money!

Unfortunately, this is not the only instance of Jared Kushner working secretly with Russia. In addition to attempting to create a backchannel of communication, federal investigators are looking into several meetings with foreign officials that he failed to disclose when applying for his security clearance.6 Those meetings included rendezvous with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and the head of a Russian bank currently under sanctions by our government.7

These are serious accusations, and elected Democrats need to be completely free to get to the heart of Kushner’s entanglements with Russia. But it’s awfully hard to do that when you’ve taken money from him.

Tell Sen. Cory Booker and all elected Democrats: Give up any money you’ve received from Jared Kushner and the Trump family.
