It wasn't long ago that Donald Trump was loudly calling his Republican rivals “puppets” of their big campaign donors and saying he was the only one who was different? That was then.

This month, he named a team of economic advisers filled with big donors who’ve given his campaign hundreds of thousands of dollars! It’s a blatant example of “pay to play” politics.

Sign the petition to tell Donald Trump: Stop the hypocrisy. Remove your big campaign donors from economic advisory council!

You might have seen the attention his economic team got because 6 out of 13 were named “Steve” – and none were women.

But more than half of these economic advisers (7 out of 13) are major donors to Trump’s campaign and super PACs.1

There’s notorious hedge fund billionaire John Paulson, who made a billion dollars betting on home foreclosures in 2007,2 and veteran Goldman Sachs banker Steve Mnuchin, who’s leading Trump’s fundraising efforts.

Under criticism, Trump added 9 more people to the team, including 8 women. But all 9 are major Republican campaign donors, including 4 state chairs of Trump’s fundraising committee.3

There are lots of ways to show you’re qualified to write economic policy. Cutting a big check to a presidential candidate isn’t one of them.

But these advisers are helping write Trump’s policies, which are filled with pro-billionaire ideas like giving huge tax breaks to corporations and the super-rich.

If Trump wants to claim he’s “not a puppet” to big donors then he needs to cut out this hypocritical pay-to-play arrangement.

Despite all this, polls still show many of Trump’s supporters think he’s somehow “unbought” because he’s rich. So we need to call out this hypocrisy loudly and clearly enough so that everyone knows how Trump is rewarding his big donors.

Sign and share the petition: Trump, immediately remove the big campaign donors from your team of economic advisers.
